Ghosting – otherwise known as the cowardly phenomenon where a woman or man goes from being really into you to disappearing completely without an explanation. Years ago, the dating world was much different than it is today. Men and women went out, talked and, if one wasn't into the other, would actually breakup in person. Today however, technology makes breakups less personal. If a guy isn't into you for any reason it's simple for him to just delete you. No excuse necessary. That's why ghosting is becoming so popular. But it doesn't make it right. In fact, it's downright selfish. The only question to ask is why? Why do they do it? Why do they intentionally hurt someone without any explanation? Why can't they just be honest? Well, our research shows that there are many signs to tell if a man is about to ghost you. If you see any of these signs in your relationship you may want to turn the tables before you are the one getting hurt.
1. Response Delay
If someone is really into you they are likely waiting for your messages to come through and will respond quickly. An abnormally long response time likely means they aren't that into you and they are thinking about disappearing.
2. No Response
If you get no response you can guarantee he isn't into you. In fact, pack away your crazy and realize that you've already been ghosted. Likewise, if you are always the one to text first you can bet you aren't a priority on his list. If he does respond and the messages are short and simple they have likely lost all interest in you.
3. Vague Plans
If a guy likes you, he will want to see you. He will want to make concrete plans with a place and time to hook up. If a guy tells you he will get back to you with a time or that he is really busy and will meet up with you sometime in the future, you can be guaranteed he will likely be ghosting you soon.
4. Private Meeting
If your guy only wants to meet you in private with no one else around chances are he is either married or is hiding your relationship. He is likely only in it for the sex and when he is bored of that you can expect the ghosting to happen.
If you and your new mate have finally managed to choose a date and time that works for a date and then BAM – he cancels at the last minute for some bizarre reason, you can be sure he is likely looking for a way out. I mean, cancelling once is ok. But if he is constantly making up excuses – 'My mother needs me to make her dinner tonight,' or 'My hair is extra oily this week and needs a treatment' – you should bail quickly.
